After growing up in the big city of Toronto and spending part of my adult life in traffic, I decided to move north, out of the city and into a rural area. I purchased a small cottage-type, ranch-style home in the Town of Georgina in 2000 and have been in the same house ever since. In my spare time over the years, I've enjoyed spending time woodworking in my backyard shop and completing various household projects. I used to work for IBM as a Business Analyst, Quality Coordinator, and Team Leader. During the COVID-19 pandemic, and after 25 years of working for them I was let go as part of a resource action.
Not wanting to look for a new job at this point in my life, I decided to utilize my problem solving skills and creativity to pursue my desire to help others by leveraging the skills I've developed, the knowledge that I've built, and my passion for woodworking. Whether it's a small DIY project you need help with, to coordinating a huge build, like raising your house- as I did- I want to help you with your home: fix your problems and make your dreams come true.
Talon, the youngest of my two children, has been a part of the business since the beginning. He handles photography, marketing, and back-end development. Additionally, when I plan out a large project that will require an extra hand, I turn to him as my source of labor, whether it's moving stone or building a deck. It was soon after my daughter left for university to start her own life that my son came along in 2007, so I call him my "second tour of duty!"
My small house met my needs for many years, but after my newly blended family of five moved in, however, it was no longer big enough. Rather than opting to move, I hatched a plan to raise our existing house into an upper floor, install a basement, and build a brand new main floor right in-between.
Over a period of two years, I dealt with the bank, lawyers, architects, utility companies, and various contractors, as well as suppliers in efforts to convert our small house into a beautiful 4-bedroom home. While all five of us lived in it!
This massive renovation taught me so much. I've laid flooring, installed drywall, painted many rooms, built door and floor trim for the entire house, framed in new bedrooms, installed doors, and hung many new light fixtures, all while working full time in the city.
