Plan
With two new babies on the way, my daughter and her husband wanted a new deck to revitalize her backyard and get it ready for family time outdoors. I used my computer design tool to create a plan for the deck.

When making large projects out of wood manually, one may not make the most efficient cuts, wasting wood and money. My design tool prepares a list of all the wood I need and how most efficiently to cut it for my projects, making sure I’m making the most use of lumber for the job, saving my clients money.
Execution
This is how it turned out.

I used a Kraig concealed fastener system so that no screws are exposed. I also built the deck with a picture frame border, this hides the end grains of the deck boards, protecting them and creating a beautiful style.
I didn’t want to make a boring old conventional railing, so I got creative. I made a little pattern with some of the spare wood:
